Keystone STAR 3

Something To Grow On Educational Center, Inc. advances to a STAR 3 in Keystone STAR quality rating program.

Something To Grow On Educational Center, Inc. boosted its rating in Pennsylvania's Keystone STARS Program and has been recognized with a STAR 3 designation. Something To Grow On Educational Center, Inc. has been in operation for approximately 21 years and provides child care services for children ages 6 months to 5 years.

We have always known that our teachers and staff are all high quality and it is great that our new STAR 3 designation confirms it. Moving up to a STAR 3 quality rating tells parents that their children are in a safe and supportive early learning environment.

To achieve a STAR 3 rating, Something To Grow On Educational Center, Inc.  had to meet research-based standards for program quality. For example, all lead teachers in a STAR 3 center must have at least an Associate's degree in early childhood education, assess children's progress three times a year, and hold at least two family conferences each year to discuss child's progress, behavioral, social and physical needs.

We worked hard to reach a STAR 3 because we know that quality really makes a difference and everyone benefits from being held to a higher standard. Research has shown that quality early education increases a child's likelihood to do well in school, graduate high school and attend college or job training.

Keystone STARS is a rating system that offers families a way to evaluate the quality of child care programs, so that they can make an informed decision that best suits the needs of their children. As STAR levels increase from a STAR 1 through a STAR 4, so do the requirements for meeting higher standards of quality. Keystone STARS also provides training to advance staff education, technical assistance to help programs meet STAR level requirements, and targeted financial supports for continued quality improvements.

Keystone STAR quality standards build upon health and safety requirements already regulated by the Department of Public Welfare. With only 1 in 6 Pennsylvania children between the ages of 3 and 4 having access to high quality child care programs, we at Something To Grow On are proud to provide quality serves to some of our youngest citizens.
